The Kansas City Chiefs enter the playoffs with another advantage that not many are talking about. … while the Mahomes family waits on Baby No. 3.

Once again, the Kansas City Chiefs enter the playoffs as one of, if not the favorite, for the Super Bowl. This season, Andy Reid’s team holds the No. 1 seed in the AFC, which means a nice first-round bye.

So the Chiefs will be kicking their feet up on wild-card weekend and watch the other AFC teams beat the snot out of each other to see which team they will play at Arrowhead Stadium in the divisional round.

Well, not all of the Chiefs. One of them, the team MVP, is actually going to be busy today.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, is expecting her third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. And today is the big day. (If she doesn’t give 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to their new daughter, she will be induced on Monday.) The family is sending messages as they await the big day.

“Hello 2025✨ we’re ready for you little one🎀,” Brittany wrote this week on social media.

Replied Patrick’s mom, Randi: “So ready!!! 💓💓💓💓”

And Patrick’s message? He expressed his thoughts not long ago.

“I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get the No. 1 seed so we can go have that 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦,” he said after the Chiefs grabbed the top AFC seed with a win over the Steelers on Christmas Day.

Patrick Mahomes and Mahomes have been married since March 12, 2022, and they already have two 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren: Sterling Skye, 3, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III, 2.

Sterling and Bronze and, yes, speculation suggests another precious metal might be on the way.

So again, perfect timing as the Chiefs have the bye, with the next question that will be aimed at Reid’s team being about who they will want to face in their first playoff game.

“We actually have played, which is crazy, but we’ve played all the teams that are in the playoffs,” Reid said of potential foes.

So that is yet another little advantage for the Chiefs, and yes, we know that means the other teams have also played Kansas City, but at this stage of the year, the defending champs have an insight into every team? That’s an advantage.

Whether it be the Houston Texans or the Denver Broncos (the Chargers and Steelers were ousted on Saturday), the Chiefs, being at home, will fancy their chances of getting the job done and advancing to the AFC Championship Game.

In a season where Kansas City is chasing a historic three-peat, any proposed “advantage” is huge, and the Chiefs just got another one. … just like the Mahomes are about to get their very own “three-peat” of the 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 sort.
