Jim Jones Holds Nothing Back on Cam’ron and Mase Beef, 50 Cent and Working With Ye (video)

Jim Jones Addresses Cam’ron and Mase Conflict, 50 Cent Comments, and Collaborations with Kanye West

In an exclusive interview with Double XL, hip-hop icon Jim Jones opened up about his latest album, “At the Church Steps,” while also addressing the ongoing beef with fellow rappers Cam’ron and Mase, his relationship with 50 Cent, and his burgeoning partnership with Kanye West.

Fresh off the release of his album, which marks the 20th anniversary of his debut project, Jones expressed his excitement and gratitude for the positive reception he has received. “Everybody’s been calling me with good things to say,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of staying relevant in the competitive music landscape. The album title, “At the Church Steps,” reflects his spiritual journey and connection to his upbringing in the church, symbolizing a closer relationship with God.

Throughout the interview, Jones demonstrated his commitment to evolving his sound while staying true to his roots. He acknowledged the changing dynamics in the hip-hop industry, particularly the influence of social media and public perception. “I try not to feed into that because I know there’s a big reality there,” he stated, referring to the often-negative narratives surrounding inter-borough rivalries, particularly between Harlem and the Bronx.

When asked about Mase’s current state, Jones did not hold back. “He need to go on a diet, he need to get his life together,” he remarked, reflecting a candid and somewhat critical perspective on his rival’s health and career. This statement is just one of the many instances where Jones has addressed the tension between him and other artists, asserting that while he acknowledges the competition, he prefers to focus on his own artistic journey.

Jones also touched on his collaboration with Kanye West, describing their relationship as mutually beneficial. While he didn’t reveal specific details about upcoming projects with West, he highlighted their work in the fashion industry, noting that West has been a significant source of encouragement in pursuing his fashion aspirations. “He’s taking it by storm,” Jones said, praising West’s ability to turn creativity into commercial success.

As the conversation shifted to the ongoing feud with 50 Cent, Jones expressed indifference to the rapper’s recent remarks, stating, “I don’t even give a [expletive] about what 50 said.” He emphasized his focus on his music and career rather than getting entangled in public disputes.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Jones is actively involved in mentorship programs for young artists and supports educational initiatives through his Tria program, which incentivizes students to excel in academics and attendance. “There’s nothing wrong with incentive in all walks of life,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to giving back to the community.

With plans for a film adaptation of “At the Church Steps” set to release in April, Jones is poised for a busy year ahead. He remains optimistic about his career trajectory and the opportunities that lie ahead, stating, “It feels good to be in this position all over again.”

As Jim Jones continues to navigate the complexities of the hip-hop industry, he remains a steadfast figure committed to his craft, his community, and his evolution as an artist. Fans can expect more from him as he embraces new challenges and collaborations while staying true to his roots.
