DOJ probe of Comey, Brennan could enter ‘criminal territory,’ says Josh Holmes (video)

Former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey are reportedly under criminal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for potential misconduct linked to the Trump-Russia probe. This development has sparked renewed discussions among political analysts and commentators about the implications of their actions during the investigation.

Josh Holmes, co-host of the Ruthless Podcast, expressed his belief that this investigation is long overdue and should have commenced in 2017, rather than the inquiries into alleged Russian collusion. Holmes criticized Brennan, labeling him as one of the most politically motivated individuals to have served as an intelligence chief. He pointed out that Brennan was instrumental in briefing Hillary Clinton’s campaign on the Russia collusion narrative while also utilizing the controversial Steele dossier, which has been widely criticized for its lack of credibility.

According to Holmes, Brennan was aware of the Clinton campaign’s intentions to propagate this narrative in the closing days of the 2016 election. He indicated that Brennan attempted to gain support from congressional leaders to legitimize Clinton’s claims, which were ultimately rejected. Following his tenure, Holmes accused Brennan of becoming a significant distributor of misinformation regarding the narrative he once helped promote.

The scrutiny surrounding Comey is equally intense. Critics have long accused him of politicizing the FBI and misusing classified information. Holmes acknowledged that while investigations of this nature often fail to yield tangible results in Washington, the current political landscape, with new leadership in place, may alter the outcome of this inquiry.

While some may dismiss this investigation as a vendetta by the Trump administration, Holmes asserts that it transcends mere political retribution. He emphasizes the need to determine whether Comey, Brennan, and others engaged in unethical or potentially criminal activities aimed at undermining a political campaign and later an administration.

Holmes concluded by stating that if the investigation reveals connections to criminal behavior, it would represent a significant breach of trust in the country’s intelligence services. The ongoing investigation highlights the complexities of political accountability and the pressing need for transparency in governmental operations.

As the DOJ continues its inquiry, the ramifications of these developments could reshape public perception of intelligence agencies and their role in political processes. The investigation not only scrutinizes the actions of Brennan and Comey but also raises broader questions about accountability within the U.S. government, underlining the importance of maintaining the integrity of democratic institutions.
