Anthony Joshua made a smaller-than-average impression on the weigh-in scales when he faced Francis Ngannou.
At eighteen stone, he looked every bit the meаn, slender boxing machine.

It appears like AJ has reached his peak weight of approximately eighteen stone.Image credit: Anthony Joshua on InstagramIn reality, he was only one pound underweight for his last bout against Otto Wallin. He appears to have found his footing as he strives for yet another outstanding performance.AJ disclosed a year ago that he has altered his approach to his food and dietary requirements. He chooses to become more of an endurance athlete by running longer distances as opposed to shorter, more forceful sprints. The former heavyweight champion maintains a strict regimen and schedules his rest days accordingly.
What changed
In a magazine interview conducted following his victory over Jermaine Franklin, he acknowledged that during the early stages of his professional career, he focused primarily on sprinting.
Before moving on to 400 meters, sprints of 100 and 200 meters assisted him with his explosiveness.
AJ realized that most fighters possess the capacity to explоde quickly. To improve as an endurance boxer, he needed to run farther.
“You start off [with] 400 meters, and that’s like your 12 rounds when I first started out.” You begin by sprinting 100 meters, then increase to 200 meters. Thus, 100 meters is strong and explosive,” he remarked.”And as we went along, I began to realize that while everyone is explosive, everyone also has endurance.” I thought, “S***, I have to have endurance and I need to be explosive.”I therefore went through a really intense phase of trying to determine what was right and wrong. And right now, I’m in a position where people want me to pop.
But I’ve come to the realization that I would want to be able to finish the 400 meters and still place first. Instead of just being explosive for 200 meters and then collapsing, I’ve now adjusted my training to become more of a long endurance athlete.”
Periodised training
AJ went on in the interview with Me𝚗’s Health, saying, “I enjoy low rep ranges, but phase training is key. I therefore basically attempt to accomplish everything. I’ll be working on my strength. I’m lifting big weights and doing jumps.

Although I’m getting a great workout, some trainers are looking to maximize their profits.”You’re not with them for a very long period. I now know that it’s important to space out my workouts. Rather than saying, “let’s just get the most out of this session,” instead, “let’s get the most out of this three- or two-week block and move on.”
“In two weeks, where do I want to be? or for three weeks? But after that, I can gauge my improvement.””
Eating right
It was previously stated that AJ ingested an incredible 5,000 calories every day.
He eats a diversified diet with the assistance of nutritionist Mark Ellison, who also works with Manchester United and the Olympic GB squad.
He occasionally becomes vegan during a training camp, preferring “just fresh” cuisine over meat and fish.
“Food items such as falafel, avocado, vegetables, and rice,” Joshua disclosed before to his encounter with Joseph Parker.
AJ is reported to have oatmeal, eggs, fruit, and yoghurt for breakfast.
He has previously stated, “After that, we move on to jacket potatoes, tuna, mayo, and beetroot with a handful of vegetables.”

Taking it more seriously
AJ is now taking nutrition seriously and knows how to fuel his body correctly.
“I simply didn’t take it as seriously as I do now—diet is crucial. After a workout, my friends and I would hang around in the gym for perhaps an additional two hours.
However, if you compare the time I started training to the moment I finish, or when I “put in my last puncҺ,” you’ll see that I haven’t eaten in two hours, and that’s not even counting the two hours I spend in the gym after taking a shower and chatting with everyone. I’ve probably been without food for five hours or so. I once shed a lot of weight.
That’s another issue: in the past, I confused being fit with reducing weight. I used to ignore the advantages of eating well, therefore. However, you must nourish and energize your body if you want to lose weight. It resembles an automobile.

1Anticipate that AJ will be able to persevere in his upcoming bouts.
“Without fuel, you can’t expect it to travel very far. Without the proper fuel, I can’t expect to be in good enough shape to travel a great distance. That was a misconception I had about myself, that I was fitter just because I was lighter.
In order to push myself, I must eat healthily. That’s what I think.””
