Eminem Scores 10th Best Hip Hop Award at the 2024 MTV EMAs

Eminem’s legacy breaks another record as he became the first artist to win Best Hip Hop ten times at the MTV EMAs.

For the 30th anniversary of the MTV Europe Music Awards held at Manchester’s Co-op Live on November 10, Eminem added a new milestone to his already legendary career, taking home his 10th Best Hip Hop award.

“Houdini” did not make it to the top, with Taylor Swift and Post Malone winning Best Video for “Fortnight”, but Eminem’s historic win had hip hop fans cheering. Competing in the Best Hip Hop category against Central Cee, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Scott, Marshall claimed his tenth trophy and brought his total EMA awards score up to 15.

Though he did not attend in person, Eminem sent a video message in classic Slim Shady style. “Hey EMAs, whaddup, you bloody wankers!” he joked before offering a sincere thank you to his fans, the team behind his music, and the voters who helped him achieve this record-breaking moment:

Thank you for this award. I appreciate you all. Thank you so much. Sorry, I couldn’t be there right now. As you can see, I’m in the process, hard at work cleaning my studio. Thank you to everybody who helped me with the song, with the video, Steve Miller, Rich Lee. And thank you for y’all. You guys are incredible, and I will see you soon. I have to get back to work.

This win did not change Eminem’s rank as the EMA’s third most-awarded artist across all genres, following Taylor Swift with 19 awards and Justin Bieber with 22. However, His unmatched ten-win streak in Best Hip Hop reinforces his influence as one of hip hop’s most enduring figures.
