In a shocking and tragic incident, two firefighters were killed and one critically injured during an ambush attack in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, while responding to a wildland fire on Canfield Mountain. Drive and Union President Justin Zabel confirmed the heartbreaking news during a press conference, where they honored the fallen heroes: Battalion Chief Frank Harwood, 42, and Battalion Chief John Morrison, 52. Both men dedicated their lives to serving their community, with Morrison having over 28 years of service. The injured firefighter, Engineer Dave Tisdel, is currently in critical condition after undergoing two successful surgeries.

As law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack, Chief Drive emphasized the need for respect towards the grieving families, urging the media and public to allow them space to mourn. Police have been stationed at the homes of the firefighters to ensure their safety amid the overwhelming attention.
