Lawmaker reveals the ‘only way’ to get Putin to end the Russia-Ukraine war (video)

In a recent interview, Texas Congressman Mike Powell emphasized the importance of a strong U.S. response to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, suggesting that the only way to compel Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate is through demonstrable support for Ukraine. Powell, a member of the House Oversight Committee, criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the war, arguing that its approach has been inadequate and lacking a clear strategy for resolution.

“Strength is something that Putin does react to,” Powell stated, referencing former President Donald Trump’s attempts to engage Putin in negotiations. He noted that while Trump sought to bring both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the table, the current administration has primarily focused on financial aid without a defined endpoint for the conflict. “President Trump was attempting to bring Putin to the table in good faith, but now it is time to show Putin that we mean business,” he added.

Powell pointed out that Russia currently occupies approximately 20% of Ukraine and suggested that the U.S. must fully support Ukraine to end the war. He expressed the belief that a robust show of support could pressure Putin into negotiations, stating, “That’s the only way to do it.”

The discussion also touched on tensions in the Middle East, particularly regarding Iran’s leadership. Powell supported Trump’s decisive actions against Iran, citing its history of violence against Americans and its role as a state sponsor of terrorism. He stressed that the U.S. must maintain a firm stance against Iran, emphasizing that peace can only be achieved on America’s terms and not in deference to rogue states.

In addition to foreign policy matters, Powell addressed ongoing investigations into President Biden’s fitness for office. He expressed frustration over the lack of transparency regarding Biden’s health and cognitive abilities, describing it as potentially “the greatest cover-up in American history.” He criticized Biden for not taking cognitive tests during his presidency and pledged that the Oversight Committee would leave “no stone unturned” in its pursuit of the truth.

“Truth will come to light,” Powell asserted, indicating that the committee would take legislative action to prevent similar situations from arising in the future. He suggested that the American public deserves clarity about their leaders’ capabilities, especially concerning national security.

The interview concluded with a discussion of recent natural disasters in Texas and Trump’s visit to the affected areas. Powell expressed gratitude for the federal response, highlighting the cooperation between state and federal agencies in saving lives during the crisis. He remarked, “We saved a thousand people because of the actions of the state and the federal government working together.”

As discussions continue around foreign policy and domestic governance, Powell’s comments underscore the urgency for a clear strategy regarding U.S. involvement in global conflicts and the necessity for transparency in leadership. The call for a strong response to Putin and the insistence on accountability within the Biden administration resonate as critical points in the current political landscape.
