Tom Cruise’s most awaited release of the year, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was released in July. The film had a great start on its premiere weekend, however, the numbers were massively affected by two major releases in the following year.

Despite being an immensely high-budget movie, Cruise’s Mission Impossible has failed against Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

As per a source by The Sun,

“Tom’s Mission: Impossible seven was hard-earned and overcame so many hurdles to make it into the cinema.”

“But there is a feeling among the crew that they fought hell and high water to get it out only for Barbie to come along and overshadow it.”

“It’s a really hard time in Hollywood right now so no one is knocking Barbie’s wins, it’s just left a bit of a sour taste in some mouths.”

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s Barbie has grossed $1.2 billion worldwide. Mission Impossible 7 grossed near $541 million, till now.

Unstoppable action: Tom Cruise

Since the release of the spy action film, the star Tom Cruise has been busy promoting it. The actor took a moment to thank his team for working with him and creating an entertainer for the public. He shared in an interview with Metro,

“Listen, we had to do it and I’m very proud of my crew. We presented it to them last night, them and their families, and it was lovely because I got an opportunity to thank them all personally. It’s something that we can all be proud of, what we accomplished to keep people working and keep people going during that very challenging time. And I say, ‘Look at what we have, look at what we all did together.’ You know, I always make my movies for an audience, and you always want them to work – but even more so now.”

Mission Impossible 7 production was halted due to the pandemic and was among the few films that started work post-pandemic. The film was shot in locations like Italy, Norway, and the U.K. The second part of the film franchise is due to hit the theatres next year.
