A single mom in Washington state gave birth to three babies in the same year — but they’re not triplets.
Stephanie Hansen, 32, welcomed her first daughter, Daphne, on January 28, 2020.
Just three months later, she was shocked to discover that she was pregnant again, and on December 8 — just over ten months after giving birth the first time — she welcomed twin daughters Rubie and Penelope.
Hansen admitted to the Today show that raising three babies so close in age is ‘total chaos,’ but added: ‘But it’s the best chaos.’
Oldest baby Daphne was 94 days old when Hansen learned that she was expecting again.
She was in a new relationship at the time, and took a pregnancy test before going on birth control.
Hansen didn’t expect the test to come back positive, however she soon learned she was three-weeks pregnant.
‘I was in a newborn fog, and [then] there was the excitement of this new relationship,’ she said. ‘I was just adjusting to everything.’
On average, most women start ovulating again about 45 days, or six weeks, after giving birth.
At first, she admitted, she felt a bit guilty.
‘I felt awful that she wouldn’t have one-one-one time with me anymore,’ she said. ‘There was definitely some initial sadness.’
But it was all joy when brought Rubie and Penelope home to meet Daphne, who loved them right away and wanted to give them hugs.
Fifteen months later, the trio is very close, sharing a room and doing everything together. Hansen describes them as the ‘Three Musketeers.’
Hansen documents their life on TikTok, where she’s discussed having a good co-parenting relationship with the twins’ father, whom she is no longer dating.
‘It’s not always easy,’ she said. ‘But I am the happiest I’ve ever been in my entire life. These kids are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.’
In another video, she explained that both she and her ‘baby daddy’ are dedicated to ‘raising happy children’, joking that they are on the ‘same team’, despite living in ‘different homes’.
