The Italians are at it again with another rare breed of hypercar. Enter the Corbellati Missile, and they’re not joking with the name here, it really is a missile.
Unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, Corbaletti’s new hypercar is designed for ultimate performance, delivering us some ludicrously huge numbers, with the intention of becoming ‘the fastest hypercar in the world’.
To achieve this rather bold statement, they’ve dropped in a… shall we say… massive, 9.0-litre twin-turbo, quad-cam V8 onto its carbon fibre chassis. The motor discharges a claimed 1,800bhp and a staggering 2,350Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed gearbox and limited-slip differential. Double wishbone suspension with in-board dampers and air springs deal with the road imperfections while six-piston callipers clamp onto carbon ceramic brakes to bring the Missile to a halt.
And if that’s not explosive enough, the carbon fibre bodywork is optimised for high-speed stability, while it’s been aerodynamically sculpted to cope with speeds ‘over 500km/h’ – that’s 311mph for those of us who can’t do maths.
In a statement, Corbellati said, “We are committed to producing a hypercar with unique performance and unique design, just like a jewel. The Missile is the fastest road jewel of the world, and is a union of elegance and technology.”
