Mbappe tells his truth: I didn’t say I want to be sold to Real Madrid or that I wanted to leave PSG

The French striker clarifies that he only reported that “I will not activate the option of the extra year (until 2025)” and that “I am happy to continue for one more year” at PSG.

Kylian Mbappe has spoken exclusively to Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport after informing PSG that he will not renew his contract.

He was also responding on his social media to a report in Le Parisien claiming that he wanted to go to Real Madrid this summer: “Lies. Bigger and bigger. I have already said that I will continue next season at PSG where I am very happy.”

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Mbappe did not hold back whilst clarifying his position.

“I didn’t say I wanted to be sold to Real Madrid or that I wanted to leave, only that I won’t activate the option of the extra year (until 2025). With PSG there has never been talk of a renewal and I am happy to continue for another year,” Mbappe said.

Mbappe also came out in defence of Lionel Messi, saying: “He is one of the best players in the history of football” and stressed that “it is never good news when someone like Messi leaves.

Mbappe: We need to start leaving the pitch when incidents of racism happen

Mbappe shared his opinion on how footballers should act after instances of racism in football: “We need to start leaving the pitch when incidents of racism happen. Complaints are not enough. With Vinicius, it was great to see how the Brazilian Federation came out to defend him”.

Mbappe explains his love for Milan

Mbappe was also asked by the Italian newspaper about his affection for AC Milan: “My connection with Milan is special. As a child I had an Italian nanny and I spent a lot of time with her family, all Milan fans. So thanks to them I also cheered for the Rossoneri and watched a lot of Milan games.

“My condolences to the Berlusconi family, it is a great loss for football. He was an emblematic president who created a great Milan that made me dream as a child. I hope the fans will pay him a worthy tribute,” Mbappe said, remembering the recently deceased Silvio Berlusconi.
