Lewis Hamilton Reunites with Former Manager Marc Hynes for Focused Racing Pursuits
As the 2024 Formula One season approaches, Lewis Hamilton has announced a reunion with his former manager Marc Hynes in a new role, dedicated solely to racing activities. The dynamic duo previously collaborated between 2016 and 2021, during which Hamilton secured four of his seven World Championships. This development follows the conclusion of Hamilton’s contract with Penni Thow and her management company, Copper.
Thow and Hamilton shared a professional journey under a three-year contract from 2021 to 2023. However, despite their efforts, the trio of seasons failed to deliver a World Championship, as Max Verstappen and Red Bull asserted dominance at the forefront of the field, building on their 2021 title triumph.
Addressing the separation from Thow and Copper, a spokesperson for the seven-time world champion explained to The Telegraph: “The management agreement between Penni Thow and her company Copper with Lewis Hamilton came to its natural end in December 2023, after the expiry of a fixed term.”
While the management agreement concluded, Copper will continue collaboration with Hamilton on joint projects to ensure their ongoing success. Looking ahead, Hamilton is set to expand his company, Project Forty Four, established in 2014, with exciting appointments and announcements on the horizon, reflecting his commitment to entrepreneurial business and investment interests.
Anticipating the new Formula One season, Hamilton expresses enthusiasm for working with Marc Hynes, a long-term friend and former colleague. Hynes will concentrate solely on racing activities, providing expertise to support Hamilton’s pursuit of reclaiming the top spot.
Hamilton aims to rejuvenate his World Championship contention with Hynes back in the fold. Despite climbing from sixth to third in the 2023 Drivers’ Championship standings, both 2022 and 2023 campaigns lacked Grand Prix victories. Hamilton’s last win dates back to the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Despite the winless streak, Hamilton finds solace in Mercedes’ decision to overhaul the design philosophy behind the W13 and W14, departing from the unpopular approach. With Red Bull’s significant lead in points last year, Mercedes seeks substantial gains this winter to challenge for the title in the remaining two seasons before the 2026 technical regulation changes. The racing community eagerly awaits Hamilton’s quest for an unprecedented eighth world title.
