According to The Wrap, on March 15, the US National Center on Sexual Exploitation criticized the Grammy organizers and CBS: “They broadcast a performance that romanticized striptease and prostitution in front of a global audience. country, a group of which are children, for the sole reason of increasing ratings… Things like that never make women stronger. They help build a system that exploits and oppresses women. CBS has contributed to the sexual exploitation of women and the normalization of pornography.” Grammy and CBS have not responded to the criticism.
During the awards ceremony on March 14, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performed the hit song WAP with many profanity. The pair revised many lyrics when appearing on television. The two and the dancers wore lingerie and performed sensitive dance moves on a stage shaped like a giant bed.
Larry Elder – Fox News host – commented that the performance was like a party in a strip club. On social networks, many viewers said that the performance was offensive and not suitable for the majority of audiences. Meanwhile, People and CNN called the performance one of the most memorable moments of the awards ceremony.
