Last year Margot Robbie was the talk of the Barbie press tour with her many outfits recreating iconic looks worn by the doll over the years.
A year later, Zendaya appears to have picked up where Robbie left off, using themed fashion to promote her next film – a tennis romcom.
The Euphoria star hit the red carpet earlier this week for the Sydney premiere of her upcoming film Challengers. And it wasn’t just her new blonde hair that had fans talking.
The actress kicked off the Challengers press tour by dressing as an actual tennis court, officially saying goodbye to her futuristic looks for Dune: Part Two.
Zendaya, styled as per usual by Law Roach, stunned on the Aussie red carpet in a custom sparkling green Loewe gown with a plunging neckline and high leg slit.
What stole the show though was the silhouette of a tennis player holding a racket and hitting a ball, etched front and centre on the glamorous gown so you couldn’t miss.
“I came as a tennis court tonight,” the actress confirmed in a fan captured video from the Sydney screening on Tuesday.
Rather than a one-off ode to the tennis film, Zendaya’s red carpet look appears to be just the start of a press tour focused on using fashion to promote the film premise.
While in Sydney, the actress wore another tennis-themed look for a photo call overlooking the harbour and Opera House.
Zendaya looked every bit the sports star in a custom Lacoste crop top and shorts set beneath an asymmetrical net skirt by the brand’s creative director, Pelagia Kolotouros.
The Spider-Man star paired the athletic look with a messy up-do, subtle Bulgari jewellery, and pointed toe heels for a touch of glam.
Zendaya opted for another pop of green at the Sydney press conference for Challengers, wearing a figure-hugging athleisure dress .
Earlier this week, Law Roach opted to style Zendaya in a more subtle nod to the sport theme on the Challengers press tour with an off-duty tennis style look.
In a video posted to Instagram, the stylist showed off the movie star in blue striped shorts and a blouse, seemingly referencing the more casual fashion worn by spectators.
The actress seemed to first hint her venture into sport-themed fashion when she made a surprise appearance at the BNP Paribas Open in a zip up jacket and tennis skirt combo.
Zendaya looked ready to pick up a racket and hit the court when she attended the tennis championship matches in Indian Wells, USA with her boyfriend Tom Holland.
The star was pictured in the full Louis Vuitton and On sneakers ensemble while posing after the game women’s singles showdown with winner, Polish player Iga Świątek.
If the Dune: Part Two press tour taught us anything, it’s that Zendaya loves a themed press tour, so it’s safe to say expect more tenniscore looks to come.
Challengers will be released in Australian cinemas next month on April 18.
