Calling all Muggles! Texas mansion with a Harry Potter style chessboard for $22.9million, it’s being sold by Philip Berber, an entrepreneur who founded online trading firm CyBerCorp, and his wife Donna
A stunning Texas mansion featuring a Harry Potter-inspired chessboard is on the market for $22.9million.
The 31-acre property – known as Commander’s Point Estate – is situated on the banks of Lake Travis in Austin.
The main house, styled like an English Manor, sits on a cliff overlooking the lake, and is more than 10,000 sq ft with four bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
The estate also includes a 100-year-old guest house with two bedrooms that has been renovated and a three-bedroom manager’s house.
Highlights of the property’s lavish grounds include a helipad, seven-car garage, swimming pool and hot tub as well as a waterfall and koi pond.
There’s also a four-stall horse barn, riding area and paddocks and a boat dock featuring a deck for parties.
Michelle and Gary Dolch, of Sotheby’s International Realty, who are listing the property, say the estate has so many ‘inspiring and enchanting elements.’
‘Pulling through these gates, you be enchanted as you explore and discover what lies around each corner of the property,’ they said.
‘When you enter through the double copper gates onto this property, you’ll immediately sense that you have left the city behind as you become engulfed in the beauty, privacy and tranquility of this magnificent estate.’
They added that the new owners can look forward to mid-day strolls along a cascading stream down to the koi pond, racing jet-skis around the lake and parties on the lakeside boat deck.
‘Commander’s Point Estate is one of the most beautiful waterfront estates we’ve seen in Austin, Texas,’ added Michelle.
The property is being sold by its owners Philip and Donna Berber, who bought it in 2001 because their youngest son is off to college, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The couple built tennis and basketball courts as well as a two-story boathouse on the grounds after buying it in 2001.
Berber, a tech entrepreneur, founded online trading company CyBerCorp, which he sold to Charles Schwab in 2000 for around $488million.
The couple used the money to set up a philanthropic foundation, called A Glimmer of Hope. The Berbers built the basketball court for Camp Glimmer, a summer camp for underprivileged children they host on the property.
After the property’s sale, they plan to relocate the summer camp to somewhere in east Austin.
