From over-the-top ruffles and eye-popping colors to clashing patterns and weirdly-shaped frocks, the 2023 Met Gala was filled with a slew of sartorial nightmares and fashion fails.

The annual star-studded ball, which is hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour and takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, has become one of the most talked about and coveted events of the year.

Branded by some as the biggest night in fashion, a slew of A-listers take to the red carpet in their most exquisite and glamorous looks on the first Monday of May every year.
However, many of Hollywood’s most elite totally missed the mark with their bizarre outfit choices at the glittering soiree this year – including Florence Pugh, Jennifer Lopez, Janelle Monáe and Amanda Seyfried.

Meanwhile Ariana DeBose, Kate Moss, Irina Shayk, Rachel Brosnahan, Kim Petras, Jenna Ortega, and Cara Delevingne also opted for bizarre ensembles which failed to impress.

Actress and singer Janelle led the worst dressed list at the 2023 Met Gala – opting for a bizarre, nearly naked look.

The Glass Onion star wore a pair of black, sparkling underwear and a matching bra, which she paired with a cone-like, see-through piece of fabric on top. She added a black and white jacket on top of the wacky ensemble later on in the evening.

West Side Story actress Ariana came in a close second – donning a bizarre, zip-up yellow dress with fur sleeves. The unflattering frock featured an odd ruffle along the waistline and a black cape-like piece on the back.

Amanda opted for a very revealing gown that was made out of a bunch of strings, while Florence ensured all eyes would be on her with a huge feather headpiece.

Olivia Rodrigo totally missed the mark with her bizarre outfit choice

Model Kate was seen on the red carpet in something that resembled a nightgown, and Irina’s ensemble contained a series of strange ruffles that made it look like a rolled up curtain rather than a dress.

Wednesday star Jenna’s look was certainly memorable – but for all the wrong reasons. She walked the carpet in a corset dress with a series of eye-popping ruffles.

Jennifer bared it all at the event – her gown contained two pieces of fabric that went across her chest, as well as an eye-popping floral neckpiece.

As for Rachel, she wore a nearly-naked dress that was see-through from the waist up – but used black jewels to cover her nipples – while Kim was seen in bedazzled boots with sky-high heels, which she paired with a bizarre black and white gown.

Both Jared Leto and Doja Cat came dressed up like felines – seemingly a tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld’s pet cat, Choupette.

Actress Phillipa Soo wore a strange, black-and-white polka dotted gown, which boasted an awkward neckline and feathers throughout.

Saturday Night Live alum Chloe Fineman walked the carpet in an over-the-top pink, sparkly gown with enormous black roses and sheer sleeves.

Olivia Wilde faced a fashion fail when she and Vogue China editor Margaret Zhang showed up in the same dress. The ensemble included a strange guitar-shaped gold embellishment on the front, which Olivia paired with matching arm pieces.

Others who made it onto the worst-dressed list included Olivia Rodrigo, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, and Gigi Hadid, among others.
