Rashford can become MU’s “savior” in the context that the Old Trafford team has not been able to recruit a satisfactory striker.
On the Give me Sport page, transfer expert Dean Jones revealed that MU is considering using Marcus Rashford to kick a striker in the early stages of the 2023/24 season if it fails to recruit rookies in this position.
Rashford has a knack for kicking a left-wing striker, but Dean Jones believes that pushing the English player into the center will give MU more time to find the right choice:
“Maybe in the first few weeks of the season, Marcus Rashford will play as No 9 because MU has other players who can play on the left wing like Jadon Sancho. That gives them more time to find and buy the right striker.”
Striker is an additional priority position of MU in the summer transfer window. After having difficulty approaching Harry Kane (Tottenham) or Victor Osimhen (Napoli) because of the expensive fee, the Old Trafford team is putting all their effort into Rasmus Hojlund (Atalanta).
According to Football Insider, MU has reached a personal agreement with the Danish striker, although they still need to agree with Atalanta on the transfer fee. Corriere dello Sport (Italy) reported that the Serie A team flatly refused the first offer of £ 31 million from MU because they wanted at least £ 39 million.
Even according to the Telegraph, Atalanta’s desired fee is actually up to £ 51 million. This source emphasized, “Red Devils” are about to send a second offer worth £ 50 million, close to the amount that Atalanta asked for, so the two sides are likely to find a common voice.
The Hojlund deal clearly cannot be completed soon and MU has a reason to believe in Rashford. In the 2022/23 season, Rashford contributed 30 goals and 11 assists in 55 matches in all competitions, becoming the first MU player to reach 30 goals since Robin Van Persie in the 2012/13 season. The brilliant performance of the English striker contributed to helping the “Red Devils” win 3rd place in the Premier League , win the League Cup and reach the final of the FA Cup.
Notably, he also won 2 awards “Best MU Player” voted by his teammates (Players’ Player of the Year) and voted by fans (Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award). That is the basis for experts to believe that Coach Ten Hag will give Rashford the responsibility to lead the MU attack in the future.
