She recently revealed that she felt ‘pretty broken’ after ‘a few years of difficulty’.
But Angelina Jolie had plenty to smile about as she stepped out for dinner with her beloved godmother Jacqueline Bisset in Paris on Sunday.
The Maleficent actress, 44, was as chic as ever in a black ensemble as she braved the rain during a night out at Laperouse restaurant in the French capital.
Angelina appeared in a chipper mood as she stepped into the night to share a meal with Jacqueline, who is a close friend of her late mother Marcheline Bertrand.
Marcheline battled ovarian cancer for seven years before she died from the disease in 2007 at the age of 56.
A source previously told People magazine of the couple: ‘They’re very close, and Jacqueline is someone Angelina has admired for a long time. And of course, there is the connection to her mom.’
Looking every inch the movie star, Angelina covered up in a long, black wool coat, which she teamed with smart black court shoes.
She donned a delicate layer of make-up while her brunette tresses were elegantly styled.
Meanwhile, Jacqueline, 75, looked stylish in leather look black leggings, black boots and a black coat.
The actress kept her caramel locks loose, while like her god-daughter, donned little make-up.
As Hollywood star Angelina arrived at the eatery, she certainly drew a crowd as fans clambered to get a glimpse of her.
Keen not to get her locks wet, she happily sought solace under a large umbrella held up by an assistant.
Jacqueline and Angelina previously had a reunion in July this year, with the pair catching up while Angelina took a break from filming action-thriller, Those Who Wish Me Dead.
Their catch-up comes four years years after Jacqueline confessed they barely saw each other, saying: ‘I see her very rarely. I’m fascinated with her life as everyone else is’.
In 2013 Jolie had a double mastectomy after discovering she had a gene which could develop into breast cancer, following her mother Marcheline Bertrand’s death from ovarian cancer in 2007. Jacqueline later discussed her godchild’s health woes.
Speaking to The Telegraph in 2015, she went on: ‘I’ve been thinking about her recently, all those operations she has had for her health…
‘It was very decisive to do that. I was very impressed. I don’t know if I would have done but given her circumstances, with six children, the biggest motivator must be that she should be there. I was very fond of her mother…
‘She worked so hard of trying to take care of some aspects of Angelina’s life and I don’t think it was very easy…
‘I met her when I was working with Jon Voight [Angelina’s dad] in Switzerland on a film directed by Maximilian Schell. He was the other godparent. He passed away a few years ago.’
Their outing comes after Angelina recently confessed that she felt ‘pretty broken’ after ‘a few years of difficulty’, after she opened up about reprising the role of Maleficent after a four year break from acting.
The movie star said of her returning to Maleficent: ‘It was a tough time. I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken,’ she told People magazine.
Adding: ‘It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.’
During her four year break from acting, Angelina split from Brad Pitt, 55.
The movie stars, who met in 2004 while filming Mr. And Mrs. Smith, share six children together: sons Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, and Knox, 11, and daughters Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and Vivienne, 11.
They married in August 2014 after 10 years together but Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016.
