A pair of ‘monster’ tiger sharks have been captured in chilling footage swimming right up to the side of a fisherman’s boat.
Brett Methven was fishing with friends on Fraser Island off the coast of Queensland earlier this month when he spotted a pair of fins above the water’s surface.
A whale carcass, which had washed ashore close by, attracted the sharks that were seen lingering around the group’s boat.
Mr Methven, who shared the footage on his YouTube account, said the tiger sharks were swimming just a few hundred metres from shore.
The smaller of the two sharks was estimated to be around three metres long.
In the footage both sharks are seen curiously making their way up to the fishermen as they circle around the boat.

Earlier, the fisherman had filmed the rotting humpback carcass.
‘It’s unfortunate but these things do happen. We haven’t seen one up here in years,’ Mr Methven is heard saying in the footage.
Before the group took off, the fisherman said he wouldn’t be surprised if they saw a few sharks lurking around due to the amount of whale blood in the water.
‘It’s a bit sad but that’s just how nature is,’ he said.
