Cristiano Ronaldo rages three-word accusation at ref after Al-Nassr goal ruled out by VAR

After having a goal disallowed on Wednesday against Al-Shabab for Al-Nassr, the former Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo unleashed an angry three-word diatribe at the referee. A combination of the Saudi official and the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) prevented the Portuguese striker from doubling his tally after he had already scored from the penalty spot once. The 38-year-old was left unmarked inside the box by a corner from Marcelo Brozovic, and he promptly demonstrated that he is far from past his prime by leaping to his feet and directing a header into the top corner.

Ronaldo had already done his signature’siu’ celebration in the corner with the ecstatic Al-Nassr supporters. The goal was first disallowed, but Al-Shabab protests prompted the referee to reverse his decision.

The verdict left the Portuguese fuming, and he screamed and waved his arms angrily in the direction of the officials. On the pitch-side microphone, Ronaldo could be heard complaining, “Always against me!”, as if to imply that the referees in Saudi Arabia are unfair to him.

Perhaps he did have a valid point in this instance. Two Al-Shabab defenders collided as they leaped for the ball, barely touching the Portuguese legend in the process.

The goal was disallowed because the referee thought it was enough to throw them off their game. The unfairness, or so he thought, just served to motivate Ronaldo further. He appeared to be in the scoring mood, and he was presented with a golden opportunity when Gustavo Cuellar shoved him inside the box.Officials sided with him this time and directed him there. Ronaldo got up from the ground and calmly tucked home again to keep his hat trιck hopes alive.

He then switched roles and helped make it 3-0 by setting up Sadio Mane, formerly of Liverpool, to score in a crowded net.

When Ronaldo had a chance to finish off his hat trιck late in the game, many were surprised when he passed up the penalty kιck.

While Ronaldo didn’t show any emotion, the audience booed loudly because they hoped to see him score a hat trιck of penalties and the Al-Shabab goalkeeper stopped Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s attempt.
