She could have just tried ringing the doorbell: Car barely has a scratch on it after crashing through the wall of a house

It is not the most conventional way of making an entrance.

A car crashed through the side of a couple’s house and into their living room – demolishing a near-perfect square of brickwork in the process.

Bizarrely, the car is almost unscathed and is even thought to be preventing the partial collapse of the semi-detached home.

Chris Simpson and his pregnant wife Laura were at work when the Honda CR-V crashed into their house in Sutton, south London on Wednesday morning.

Mr Simpson, 32, a project manager in London, said: ‘When they called and told me there was a car driven through my wall into my lounge this is exactly what I pictured.

‘I’m just very very glad neither of us was in the house. Yesterday it would have been a different story. Ultimately though no-one is hurt.

‘I think the car is relatively unscathed. We are talking to the insurance and borough surveyor is advising on whether to take the decision to remove the car this evening.’
