The final full-length trailer for the Marvel Entertainment movie The Eternals dropped on Thursday.
After the defeat of Thanos, the Eternals have to take on the strange-looking Deviants but it will take all their power to defeat their enemy.
Angelina Jolie as Thena stands out in a white dress as she prepares for war while sharing, ‘We have loved these people since the day we arrived. When you love something you protect it.’
Gemma Chan’s Sersi, Richard Madden’s Ikaris and Salma Hayek’s Ajak are also heavily featured.
Directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao, the long-awaited Eternals will hit theaters November 5, bringing some of Marvel comics’ strangest characters to the big screen.
The trailer begins with Hayek riding a horse in an open field. She arrives at an old farm house, which is their safe house.
‘Five years ago Thanos erased half the population of the universe,’ says Hayek to Madden.
‘The people of this planet brought everything back with the snap of a finger. A sudden return of the population provided the necessary energy…’
Salma tells Madden they have only seven days to fix it all.
‘We’re Eternals, we came here 7,000 years ago to protect humans from the Deviants,’ says Gemma Chan.
She is asked why they did not fight Thanos, and Chan said she was told to not interfere. Kit Harrington says, ‘By who?’
The others are found – that is when Jolie pops up in a white dress.
‘We have loved these people since the day we arrived,’ says Jolie’s character. ‘When you love something you protect it.’ She is told, ‘You can’t protect any of them.’
The Eternals are humanoid aliens from the planet Olympia. They are genetically engineered by the godlike Celestials.
These particular Eternals were sent to Earth by the Celestials to fight against the evil Deviants and defend humanity, and they’ve been silently keeping watch for the last 7,000 years, it was added.
In the last trailer, several of the cast members were seen.
Jolie was spotted several times with her long blonde hair, gold headpiece and various outfits.
Hayek explained in voiceover that her people have always looked after those on Earth but only now are ‘interfering.’
The plot is about the beings – who are often mistaken for the gods of human mythology – that have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years but make themselves know as they battle the evil Deviants.
The trailer begins with humans dressed in rags looking over a rocky cliff with an ocean below.
The spaceship, which is wide and brown, starts to hover off the seashore as the locals look up in amazement.
‘We have watched and guided. We have helped them progress and seen them accomplish wonders,’ Hayek’s Ajak says in voiceover.
Humanity is seen in a montage from their early stages to more modern era with big, productive cities. There were also flashes of war.
‘Throughout the years, we have never interfered — until now,’ said Hayek’s Ajak.
The cast also includes Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Hayek, Lia McHugh, and Don Lee.
Jolie recently said of her director Chao: ‘I was very, very happy. Very, very happy. I think she’s a special director, she’s a really interesting woman. She’s very thoughtful, very serious about her work. And I think she’s bringing a new voice through her films, and I think to Marvel. So I’m very excited for people to see it.’
