‘Brad and I have our issues,’ admits Angelina Jolie as she poses with her family troupe, talks life after menopause and why she can’t wait to turn 50

They may be Hollywood’s hottest couple, but Angelina Jolie readily admits that her marriage to Brad Pitt isn’t always rosy.

The 40-year-old has posed for a stunning family photo shoot for Vogue, and told the magazine that she and the actor have their ‘issues’ as she discussed their upcoming movie together.

‘It’s not autobiographical,’ she said of By The Sea, which follows a couple who take a holiday to France together in a bid to save their crumbling marriage.

But Angelina did admit that her relationship with Brad is not perfect.

‘Brad and I have our issues, but if the characters were even remotely close to our problems we couldn’t have made the film,’ she explained.

‘As artists we wanted something that took us out of our comfort zones. Just being raw actors. It’s not the safest idea. But life is short.’

The ’70s-set movie, which Angelina directed, began shooting the Maltese island of Gozo immediately after the couple tied the knot at their French Chateau in August 2014, and Angelina describes it as their ‘honeymoon’.

This marks the first time the stars will appear in a movie together since 2005, when they fell in love on set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

Angelina also spoke to Vogue about having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed in March, two years after a preventative double mastectomy.

‘I wish my mom had been able to make those choices,’ she shared. ‘They are not easy surgeries. The ovaries are an easy surgery, but the hormone changes – interesting.

‘We did joke that I had my Monday edit. Tuesday surgery. Wednesday go into menopause. Thursday come back to edit, a little funky with my steps.’

Her mother Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007 at the age of 56 following almost eight years of battling ovarian cancer and breast cancer.

So now that she has gone through menopause, Angelina is looking forward to growing older. ‘I feel grounded as a woman. I know others do too,’ she said.

‘Both of the women in my family, my mother and my grandmother started dying in their ’40s. I’m 40. I can’t wait to hit 50 and know I made it.’

Angelina also graces the cover of the magazine’s November issue, in what is perhaps her most stunning photo shoot for Vogue to date.

The star was shot by Annie Leibovitz, and joined by husband Brad and their six children for some gorgeous family snapshots while running along the beach and posing on bikes together.

By The Sea will be released in the US on November 13 and the UK on December 11.
