Taylor has been a regular face at Kansas City Chief’s games to support boyfriend Travis Kelce and received criticism for doing so, whilst Eminem was praised for his support at a recent Detroit Lions NFL game.
Taylor Swift fans have kicked off after rapper Eminem was given a warm welcome for attending NFL games, yet the Shake It Off singer has received criticism for doing the same to support boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Since the couple began dating last year, Taylor has been a regular face at Kansas City Chief’s games, but it has seen the singer criticized for distracting or drawing attention with cameras panning to see her during games. In response, Swift has said she has “no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads”.
However after Eminem attended a game for Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams and received a warm welcome, Taylor Swift fans have hit back at the reception as ‘hypocritical’.
Writing on Twitter/X, one fan shared: “Legendary rapper #Eminem was in the audience of the Detroit Lions game today. They showed him on the screen several times. Why didn’t anyone say that he’s “ruining the NFL” the way they do #TaylorSwift? You know the answer to this. And if you don’t — you should.”
Another shared similar views as they wrote: “Why is it okay for Eminem to rock out and cheer at NFL games, but if Taylor Swift does it, it’s distracting? #Swifties”. Another sarcastically wrote: “Omg they showed Eminem again in the stands! It’s ridiculous and I’m so offended! They’re ruining football.”
The Eminem backlash comes as devoted Taylor is reportedly prepared to jet over 5,000 miles from Japan to the US during her Eras Tour to support her boyfriend Travis Kelce if his team reaches the Super Bowl next month. The last leg of Swift’s worldwide tour is due to kick off in Tokyo, Japan, on February 7 and her final show is scheduled on February 10, just one day before the Super Bowl. Thanks to the different time zones, she could make it to Las Vegas in time for the game.
Japan Standard Time is 17 hours ahead of Vegas’ Pacific Time Zone, which means that when the concert in the Japanese capital ends at 11pm, it will be 6am in Vegas. The Super Bowl is set to kick off at 3.30pm PST on Sunday, February 11, which gives the singer almost a day and a half to fly across the globe to support her boyfriend.
A source, who also claimed the couple had their first argument on Christmas Day, said Swift is prepared to fly all across the globe if it means supporting Kelce. The source told Life&Style: “If Travis’ team goes to the Super Bowl then no doubt it will be Taylor making the trip to support him, even if it means flying across the world to be there.”
However, it has been claimed that constant traveling is putting a strain on the pair’s relationship – and that while the NFL star traveled to Buenos Aires in Argentina to watch one of Swift’s concerts, the singer is the one clocking up the most air miles to watch him play. But the source added: “Once his season is done, their agreement is that he’ll start putting in the miles.”
The couple’s romance, which has gone from strength to strength since they began dating last year, has hit a bump in the road after Travis and Taylor are said to have rowed over Christmas, with their celebrations “ruined”. It’s said to have happened after Travis “snapped” at his girlfriend when his time lost against the Las Vegas Raiders.
