The shift to black-and-white images on social media — and a change to TaylorSwift.com — had Swifties on alert for Reputation (Taylor’s Version).
Are you ready for it? Taylor Swift‘s profile pictures on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram and Facebook turned black and white on Sunday (Feb. 4), leaving fans in a frenzy.
Swifties consider the imagery to be Reputation-coded, since the pop star’s original Rep album cover depicts her in black and white.
With the sudden shift on social media, fans wondered whether a Reputation (Taylor’s Version) announcement was imminent and speculated about the chances of it happening on the night of the Grammys, where Swift is nominated for six awards.
“If she ends her damn acceptance speech with ‘there will be no explanation there will just be reputation’ and just walks off. Like, what do we do? What’s the protocol?” one fan tweeted.
Later on Sunday, Swift’s website appeared to be down — but showing a seemingly custom “321” error code, along with an unexplained message: “hneriergrd.” If this is a signature Swift Easter egg, “hneriergrd” can be unscrambled to spell out “red herring.”
“REPUTATION STANS RISE IT’S OUR TIME TO SHINE,” another Swiftie wrote on X.
Although Swift isn’t scheduled to perform at Sunday night’s awards ceremony in Los Angeles, she is expected to attend.
For this year’s event, she was nominated for album of the year and best pop vocal album for Midnights; best pop solo performance, song of the year and record of the year for “Anti-Hero,” and best pop duo/group performance for her “Karma” remix with Ice Spice.
With the Super Bowl being just a week after the Grammy Awards, Swift’s boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, recently said he won’t be able to attend the show to support his girlfriend.
“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for,” Kelce said in a Pat McAfee Show interview on Jan. 31, before explaining that the weekend will be filled with practice and traveling to Las Vegas for the game. “Unfortunately, I’ve got to get ready for this big ol’ Super Bowl we got in a week.”
Following the Grammys, Swift picks up her Eras Tour with four concerts at the Tokyo Dome in Japan from Feb. 7-10.
She’ll likely be able to make it to see the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl on Feb. 11 before flying out to Melbourne, Australia, to continue her international tour. The Embassy of Japan even assured fans that Swift will have time to get to Vegas after her Tokyo shows, writing in a statement: “Despite the 12-hour flight and 17-hour time difference, the Embassy can confidently Speak Now to say that if she departs Tokyo in the evening after her concert, she should comfortably arrive in Las Vegas before the Super Bowl begins. We know that many people in Japan are excited to experience Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, so we wanted to confirm that anyone concerned can be Fearless in knowing that this talented performer can wow Japanese audiences and still make it to Las Vegas to support the Chiefs when they take the field for the Super Bowl wearing Red.”
