Youtuber MrBeast says he’s ‘not rich’ despite raking in between $600 and $700 million a year

Despite being the world’s most subscribed YouTuber, MrBeast says he’s “not rich”.

And he actually has a point when he says that.

In his tell-all interview with Time Magazine, MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, provided a detailed account of his expenses and earnings.

And it is indeed the balance and the relationship between expenses and earnings that made him say he’s “not rich”.

“Each video does a couple million in ad revenue, a couple million in brand deals,” he told Time Magazine.

Furthermore, MrBeast explained that brands pay between $2.5 million to $3 million for a shout-out in a video.

And MrBeast owns several side businesses as well – YouTube just so happens to be the one he’s most famous for.

That’s a lot of cash, but despite bringing home well over nine figures last year, the reason why he’s not rich is he’s constantly reinvesting.

“I reinvest everything to the point of stupidity,” MrBeast joked.

His content famously involves all kinds of giveaways, sometimes involving private islands he specifically buys for his videos, while other times he literally just gives away hard cash.

Each video costs him around $2.5 million to make.

Of course he makes it all back, and then some – a point that was proven when he broke a revenue record on Elon Musk’s platform X.

However, Donaldson says he’s always trying to raise the bar.

He’s certainly enjoying some of his cash.

The creator has a personal chef and a personal trainer, and he lives in a 3,000 square-foot-home that he purchased for $320,000 in 2018, according to the New York Post.

Even so, he says he doesn’t actually have access to his bank accounts, because his manager(s), and his mother, do.

When asked whether he thinks he’ll ever be ‘rich’, MrBeast’s answer was candid.

“Maybe one day. But right now, whatever we make, we reinvest.”
