Taylor Swift fans went wild as The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) trailer dropped on Monday morning ahead of the highly-anticipated Disney+ streaming release.
A minute-long clip featuring the 34-year-old megastar in concert during her mega successful The Eras Tour last year as she reportedly sold the rights to the concert film to the streamer for a whopping $75million.
No doubt it will be a highly-anticipated release as it became the highest-grossing concert film of all-time, earning $261.6 million worldwide.
Coinciding with the re-issues from her old music catalogue, this release has been branded as (Taylor’s Version) meaning it will be slightly different and revamped even from what diehard Swifties saw in theaters months ago and what was on VOD (video on-demand).
The added content in this edition includes the song Cardigan which wasn’t on the original release in addition to four additional acoustic songs.
The clip began with Swift walking onto the stage as text flashed across the screen which said: ‘On March 14 the record breaking global phenomenon only on Disney+.’
Taylor could be heard saying: ‘This is the most extraordinary experience of my entire life.’
She followed that up with telling the audience: ‘I’ll be your host host this evening. My name is Taylor and welcome to The Eras Tour.’
It then kicks into high gear as …Ready for It? from her 2017 hit album Reputation begins playing.
Several clips from the high energy are shown before taking a slow turn at the end as it is revealed that there will be four additional acoustic songs.
Taylor gets behind the piano to say the upcoming song is ‘one of my favorites’ before playing Maroon from her 2022 hit album Midnights.
Swifties went wild in the comment section of the YouTube with many rejoicing that The Eras Tour film was finally going to have a home where they could watch it repeatedly and some even commented that Disney+ is going to be the ultimate benefactor.
One fan wrote: ‘Disney Plus is about to get SWIFTILLION subscribers.’
Others were excited that the streaming service is worldwide thus fans from any country will be able to have the viewing experience.
A Swiftie wrote: ‘It’s so nice of mother that she released it worldwide, so, that international swifties can watch it tooo!!!! [two red heart emojis]’
With her Disney+ payday, the Blank Space singer has made garnered more than $200 million in the movie business in just about six months.
‘#TSTheErasTourTaylorsVersion found itself running home to @DisneyPlus,’ Taylor Nation announced on X (previously known as Twitter) last month. ‘Starting March 15th, watch the entire concert film for the first time ever from beginning to end of the show, including “cardigan” and 4 additional songs from the acoustic section!’
Disney CEO Bob Iger called the performer’s tour ‘a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world.’
He continued: ‘The Eras Tour’ has been a true phenomenon that has and continues to thrill fans around the world, and we are very excited to bring this electrifying concert to audiences whenever they want, exclusively on Disney+.’
The Eras Tour concert film, which pulled in $96 million in ticket sales on its opening weekend, even earned a Golden Globe nomination for Cinematic and Box-Office Achievement.
Ahead of her 34th birthday in December, Swift revealed on Instagram that she thought ‘a fun way to celebrate the year’ with her fans would be to ‘make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home.’
‘Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film including Wildest Dreams, The Archer and Long Live will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13 [her birthday].’
It is the top-grossing concert film of all time in North America and was the first one in history to make more than $100 million domestically as well as the first independently released film to hit that mark in just two weekends in a decade.
The movie was filmed over the course of three of the Bad Blood hitmaker’s shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Swift previously released the Folklore: Long Pond Studio Sessions on Disney+.
In October, Disney increased the price of its ad-free Disney+ subscription to $13.99 per month.
The price hike represented a 27 percent jump from the current $10.99 cost and cane into effect on October 12.
Taylor Swift’s the Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) will begin streaming worldwide on Disney+ beginning Thursday, March 14 at 9pm EST/PST.
