Roman Reigns Has Been A World Champion In WWE More Days Than John Cena

Roman Reigns has been making history left and right in WWE ever since he returned in 2020 and won the Universal Title a week later. Reigns has been Universal Champion for 905 days at the time of typing this, the longest reign with any title in WWE for the last 35 years. To make what The Tribal Chief is doing with that title even more impressive, he has also been WWE Champion too since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38.

More Days Than John Cena

Reigns is a six-time World Champion in WWE, holding the Universal Title twice and the WWE Championship on four occasions. Thanks to his mammoth reign with the former, even though he has been a World Champion on ten fewer occasions than John Cena, he has already held one or both of the promotion’s top prizes for more days than Cena ever did.

Even though Wikipedia lists Reigns’ current Universal Title reign at 901 days, today actually marks 905 days with the title. Combine that with his first run and Reigns has been Universal Champion for a total of 969 days. Add those days to his 442 days as WWE Champion, and that makes 1,411 days as a World Champion.

Cena’s 16 Is Worth Less Than Roman’s Six

As for Cena, his 16 reigns come to 1,409 days combined. Still incredibly impressive, but a total that has now been surpassed by Reigns. A record The Head of the Table likely didn’t know was on the line when he defended his titles against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber. Had Zayn pulled off the impossible, then he would have stopped Reigns short by just one day.

If John Cena didn't deserve his title reigns, then why is he a 16-time world champion? - Quora

There’s a pretty significant caveat here that Cena can point to if he doesn’t like Reigns’ new total. The Tribal Chief has been holding two titles at the same time for the last 324 days, which means a lot of his 1,411 days have been counted twice. Cena held two titles at once too which means his total can be disputed as well. Regardless, Reigns is on a historic run right now, something Cena, who will return to WWE on the March 6 edition of Raw, definitely won’t dispute.
