Actor Tom Cruise has given Dakota Fanning shoes every birthday since the hit movie “War Of The Worlds” debuted in 2005.
Dakota Fanning and Tom Cruise were father and son on the set of the movie “War of the Worlds” (2005). Once appearing on Oprah’s TV show, Tom Cruise said: “I feel like I just want to protect her.” As for Dakota Fanning, when talking about Cruise, she expressed that she is like a great assistant to the actor.
The actor once shared with Oprah: “The first time I met Fanning on the set of War of the Worlds, she was about 10 or 11 years old, she was extremely bright. You know, I told her that You are a great actress. If you need anything, I’m always here to help you.”
Appearing on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week, actress Dakota Fanning shared more about her relationship with Tom Cruise. Dakota said Tom Cruise has given her shoes every year since her 11th birthday.
“I turned 11 during War Of The Worlds, when we worked together and he gave me my first cell phone for my birthday. It was a Motorola Razr,” she recalls.
Dakota added: “He always sent me the same thing every year, behind his cell phone. I loved shoes when I was little and I started being able to fit into shoes that were really small for people.” when I attended the War Of The Worlds press conference, I was very excited about them. And so from that birthday onwards he always sent me shoes.”
The age gap between Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning has almost no effect on their friendship. Even Tom Cruise always treats Dakota with the same respect as he treats co-stars of the same age.
