Arsenal are ‘weighing up a move’ for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe in 2024, according to stunning reports.
Mbappe has been the subject of intense transfer speculation after telling PSG that he won’t be renewing his contract.
He’s tipped to leave this summer as the French giants look to avoid a free transfer scenario, with the player’s deal set to expire next summer.
Real Madrid, who tried to sign him last year, are thought to be the frontrunners to snap up the 24-year-old sensation.
But they face stiff competition from Arsenal, who are admirers of Mbappe and are ‘considering whether or not to send a package’ to his representatives.
That’s according to Football Transfers, who claim the Premier League side are keeping tabs on the World Cup winner’s situation.
Mbappe has been at PSG since 2017 following his staggering £163 million transfer.
But he almost joined Arsenal before penning a deal at PSG, revealing he was in contact with then-manager Arsene Wenger.
Speaking to France Football, he said: “A little while ago, before I signed for PSG, we were in contact in 2017. I chose a different direction but he wasn’t annoyed at me. He was a gentleman about it and wished me good luck.”
Mbappe added: “He is a real French football monument who has left Arsenal. I have not seen many people in this world being viewed in such a unanimous way.
“When the entirety of Europe gets on its knees in front of him to celebrate him, that certainly means something.”
Arsenal making a play to sign Mbappe this summer seems unlikely considering the purchase of Kai Havertz and their pursuit of Declan Rice.
They secured the German’s services from Chelsea for a transfer fee of £65 million, while a sum of £105 million has been mooted for the West Ham United star.
