Mahomes just began his seventh season as Kansas City’s QB and revealed who his favorite player in the NFL is
Virtually everything Patrick Mahomes has done since entering the NFL is winning. He’s won the biggest awards the sport has to offer (Super Bowls, regular season MVP awards, Offensive Player of the Year honors) and is poised to continue to lead the Kansas City Chiefs to major victories for the rest of the 2020s.
Mahomes also seems to make all the right moves off the field. He has two children with wife Brittany and a number of endorsements and sponsorship deals in addition to his $45 million annual salary with the Chiefs.
The two-time NFL champion is also adept at the political side of the game, as he revealed in a recent interview.
Mahomes’ favorite player comes as no surprise
Shortly before being spotted with his loved ones at the US Open in New York, Mahomes sat down with Subway’s social media team for a quick Q&A session with a fast food company whose brand he has long endorsed. When asked about his favorite current NFL player, the two-time NFL MVP had his pick ready: fellow All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce.
It’s no surprise that Mahomes chose Kelce, without hesitation. After all, who else could Mahomes trust to catch the ridiculous behind-the-back pass he threw in the preseason? It could only be Kelce, who was already a high-level tight end before Mahomes took over under center in 2018, but saw his play reach Hall of Fame levels afterward.
In January, Mahomes and Kelce surpassed Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski as the most prolific quarterback/tight end duo in NFL playoff history.
The pair then led the Chiefs past the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, clinching their second consecutive Super Bowl title and third since 2019.

Entering their seventh season together, Kelce and Mahomes are eager to secure their place in NFL history by capturing a third Super Bowl, a feat no team in league history has accomplished.
Bettors learned their lesson in 2023 and consider the Chiefs, buoyed by the inimitable camaraderie between Mahomes and Kelce, as favorites to win it all again in 2024.
