Emerging trends from fashion month dictate what will be in style next season.
Jason Wu held his spring/summer 2023 show on the 4th level of Pier 17 in the South Street Seaport area of Manhattan on Saturday, September 10.
From the clothing to the models’ makeup (created with Jason Wu Beauty), the look was sleek and chic and with a nod to the 1960s.
The New York-based designer is world renowned for his appreciation of craftsmanship, minimalist aesthetic, and timeless wardrobe staples.
And this season’s collection was no different delivering everything from modern day suiting to red carpet worthy gowns and midi length tea dresses.
The palette was mostly subdued with the exception of a cobalt blue.
Every look made complete with natural makeup featuring a modern smokey eye, fluffy brows, and rosy cheeks – all using Jason Wu Beauty products.
Before any makeup was applied, 111SKIN products were used to create the perfect canvas.
111SKIN esthetician Sylwia Gorzkowska used Antioxidant Energising Essence to prime the skin for maximum absorption.
She then applied the Y Theorem Bio-Cellulose Facial Mask, to repair, plump and brighten the complexion, followed by the Celestial Black Diamond Eye Mask to hydrated and transform tired eyes.
The understated beauty look was made complete with a statement eye.
To recreate the look:
Use Jason Wu Beauty’s Free-Da Brow clear gel for a fluffy eyebrow.
Apply Jason Wu Beauty’s Tinted Moisturizer Meets CC Cream for a minimal, effortless sheer base; then illuminate and contour the cheeks and cheekbones with the Highlighter Trio and Sunlight Bronzer Trio.
Sweep Blush Trio – Sexed onto the apples of the cheeks for flush, rosy look.
To achieve the smokey eye look, ‘start by lightly applying the Jewel Stick in Blue Pearl to the eyelid, then cover the blue line with a thicker line using the Solid Black Jewel Stick, followed by carefully sweeping The Kitty – Dual Liner on top,’ said makeup artist Diane Kendal.
To finish, curl lashes and apply Hot Fluff Lash mascara on the root of the lash and complete the look with a swipe of Everyday Lip Mask.
Professional hair stylist and OLAPLEX ambassador, Jimmy Paul, created the polished hairstyle for the show.
‘My inspiration was the 90’s minimal fashion trends,’ said Jimmy.
‘I wanted the hair to look purposefully messy yet put together at the same time. It’s a look that can be dressed up or dressed down.’
Using OLAPLEX products models walked the runway with sleek, braided twists, with the ends sticking out, short natural textured bobs and braids.
OLAPLEX is best known for its patented system that noticeably restores damaged and compromised hair by repairing from the inside out.
Jimmy reveals how to recreate the look:
‘Combine OLAPLEX No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum and OLAPLEX No. 6 Bond Smoother to prep hair.
‘Using your fingers, pull hair back into a low pony and secure.
‘Braid the pony and secure it with elastic, then twist into a low bun and leave the ends out. Secure with bobby pins and top off the look with OLAPLEX No. 7 Bonding Oil for high shine.’
